Message from Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi
I would like to congratulate South Africa and take pleasure in extending heartfelt appreciation toward Peter Brandon Shihan on his 15th year as president of IKGA South Africa.
I have always had respect for Brandon Shihan who has promoted Goju-ryu Karate-do through his deep understanding of our Karate-do. With our history, tradition, discipline and training, a sprit of harmony and enhancement is fostered, striving for personal development. This gives the younger generation a chance to develop themselves into responsible and reliable individuals.
Peter Brandon Shihan is not only a president of Africa but also IKGA Block director of Africa, who always helps the President of the IKGA and devotes himself to our organization for higher fulfillment. Nowadays, Karate has become popular; there are no boundaries for practicing Karate. Many Karate events such as tournaments, seminars and demonstrations are being held every day around the world.
Since 1990 when I became the president of IKGA, we have held three World Championships plus International Seminars. At every event held, Brandon Shihan has always been present, bringing many other members with him who have contributed to the success of the events. I always think without Brandon Shihan's dedication, such events may not have been the success they were.
I, with my students, have always participated in the South African Seminar that is regularly held. These kind of seminars help build communication between our two countries and forge a deep friendship.
I wish all the Senior Instructors and students of South Africa the best with their journey through Goju Kai karate, and thank Brandon Shihan for 15 years of devotion to IKGA as a president of IKGA Africa.
Thinking of all members in Africa,
Goshi Yamaguchi
