About the seminars:
The All-Africa Karate-do Goju Kai hombu Dojo is hosting "Chisai Nippon" seminars, which gives the students the opportunity to train and live at the South African Goju Kai headquarters, thereby emulating the training that is done at the international headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. These seminars are targeted at different grades and age groups with only two seminars for each grade and age group per year. The number of seminars per year has been limited in order to have a more focused and intense experience for the students. A maximum of fifty students are allowed per seminar so it is vitally important to always secure a booking as soon as possible.
Each seminar has an official opening and closing ceremony with a strict training schedule being followed for the duration of the seminar. Students enjoy early morning training on the stairs of Rhodes Memorial and sunset sessions in Newlands Forest. During the day there is intensive training at the Dojo with all aspects from the grading syllabus to competition training being covered. Students live Japanese style and eat traditional food on the tatami. They are expected to clean the Dojo after each training session and meal. Male students sleep on mats on the Dojo floor and the female students are accommodated on the mezzanine level.
It is hoped that these seminars assist the students in gaining a greater understanding of the Japanese way of living and the training methods of their students.
Chisai Nippon November 2008:
Since the inception of the Chii Sai Nippon “Little Japan” experience, it has been amazing to witness the rapid transformation and growth that has been achieved by our young students. This achievement has not been restricted to just their karate, but also within themselves. Lifetime friendships and ties have been formed on the basis of respect and honour, demonstrated to one another through the application of a strict Japanese system.
Well done to all our students! You have all trained with passion and commitment!
