GOJUKAI AROUND THE WORLD:

Housing System

Each junior school member of Goju Kai is assigned to represent a Goju Kai House i.e. White Cranes, Tigers, Monkeys. Snakes or Praying Mantis'. They become representatives of their house at any young warriors tournament or camp. Each House consists of a House Captain and Vice Captain. The Captains are nominated by being voted in by the Warriors who belong to that house - nominations are held once a year.

We have implemented this system so that our students can develop their individual and team leadership qualities - giving the students the opportunity to be recognised for the incredible hard work they have put into their karate. All points earned by a student contribute to the overall points standing of the House they belong to. The House with the most points at the end of the year will be awarded the Samurai Warrior Trophy and each new year brings a fresh opportunity for the teams to compete for this honour.

This system benefits Goju Kai by acknowledging that not only are we participating as individuals in the art of karate, but that the Goju Kai system encourages and nurtures individuals within a housing system.

Students will be able to track the contribution they make to their respective Houses by logging onto the website. The house membership cards are issued to the students when they register and these must be brought to each young warrior event the children attend so they can be update. A replacement card costs R20-00 so students must take care of them.

The housing system is still in the process of being developed and we will keep you posted on any developments as they happen.
