Thandokhulu High School
A huge congratulations to Iminam Keswa for begin selected to represent South Africa and to grade to his black in Tokyo, Japan in 2026. African Warriors of Light is working hard to raise funds to send Iminam to achieve his life-long dream.

Thandokhulu High School was established in Khayelitsha in 1990 and the school had no buildings or facilities of its own. The school serves the socio-economically-challenged communities of Khayelitsha, Langa, Gugulethu, Nyanga, Cross Roads and Delft.
African Warriors of Light and Goju Kai Karate has recently launched a dojo at the school for teenagers. Hosting 32 tenacious students, Thandokhulu dojo intends to empower our youth and spark hope and aspiration into their lives.
Thandokhulu Dojo
Every Friday under the guidance of Frank Brandon Shihan and other Sensei's train at the Hombu Dojo, the Headquarters of Karate Do Goju Kai. The students are taught the power and art of traditional Japanese karate in the classes.

These teachings instil values carried with them in everyday life: discipline, respect and honour. The depth of these teachings is unfathomable. It sparks a light; a belief in themselves. Although the Thandkhulu dojo intends to breed karate world champions, it first strives to create powerful, independent and honourable people.

A thank you to Nathan Ludlam Sensei for his enormous contribution to developing and growing Thandokhulu children within the Homu Dojo from inception for three years.

The Thandokhulu dojo homes 32 students that are registered in Japan. Of the 32, 16 of the students are girls which demonstrates South African young women's eagerness to change their lives. The students have undergone mental and physical training that equipped them all to successfully grade to their yellow belt.
